New Winemaker “Clau du Sol” inauguration: A success!
A Winemaker to take note of in Savignargues
On a July evening (coincidentally, July 6th, 2024!), the Clau du Sol winery in Savignargues unveiled itself to the world with an inauguration that perfectly embodied their spirit: organic, inviting, and utterly delightful.
Nestled amidst the picturesque vineyards of the Gard department, Savignargues, a charming village near Sommières and Nîmes, provided the idyllic setting for the celebration. With a population of around 350 and bathed in a warm Mediterranean climate, Savignargues' rich history dating back to the 12th century adds another layer of magic to the region.
Our own journey with Clau du Sol began a month prior, at the bustling Anduze market. There, the winemaker's mother, brimming with enthusiasm, introduced us to their bio wines. Needless to say, we were impressed. A visit to their winery for a tasting solidified our initial reaction – we left with a bottle of every single one they offered. The invitation to the inauguration night was warmly received, and it did not disappoint.
Clau du Sol offers multiple wines: Rosé, Red, White, Sparkling/Bubbly, Grey (Gris) - See below
A Visionary with a Musical Touch
The son, taking over the family's grape-growing legacy, decided to forge a new path with a line of bio wines. "Clau du Sol," meaning "Key of Sol," aptly reflects his musicality. A true visionary, the winemaker is exploring unconventional methods to elevate his wines' flavor profile, including experimenting with the vibration of music during the winemaking process. And let us tell you, his vision shines through in the final product.

A Night of Pure Enjoyment
The event itself was a delightful gathering of roughly 150 guests. The atmosphere was authentic and refreshingly simple, yet undeniably special. Seated on comfortable straw bales, we indulged in a spread of delicious local fare – creamy goat cheese, flavorful saucisson with the perfect meat-to-fat ratio (just divine!), and more. The pairings were impeccable, with their rosé perfectly complementing the cheese.
The crowd added to the wonderful ambiance. From families to friendly groups, everyone was enjoying themselves. The attentive staff ensured a smooth flow of conversation, laughter, and of course, exceptional wine.
Clau du Sol's inauguration was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression of their commitment to organic viticulture and their warm, inviting vision. We highly recommend keeping an eye on this rising star in the world of bio wines. They are a winery truly dedicated to crafting exceptional experiences, one sip (and perhaps one musical note) at a time.
